Feet Trimming
Left front-Excess growth is taller along outer edge of foot, heel is grown out and over the foot Last trimming for this goat was 3 1/2 months.
right front
first clip and you can see blood-line at the front of the toe
one little clip reveal white tip of toe still have long ways to go
red blood line you should probably stop trimming next clip would probably be drops of blood.
trimming away the heel as short as possible to make foot level
two trimmed front feet - as short as possible without making them bleed. Will probably touch these feet up in a week or two to level them out with a hoof plane. The blood-line should have risen higher by then to not have an issue with bleeding.
Front left foot

These feet were last trimmed in the summer. Way overgrown, way too long
Left - front left making progress - notice blood-line, to more clipping.
front feet of 5+ month old never been trimmed - 1st timer

Not too long, but over grown heel
Left Hind untrimmed same goat
right hind foot, right toe trimmed left untrimmed
new goat - 6months old never been trimmed bad shape Sides of hoof wall very over grown and folded on top of sole and heel over grown
Right hind right clipped a little too close got a drop of blood. You can put pressure on it, depending how bad it is and some iodine to kill germs and keep clean If it's small like this one, the weight of the goat will stop the blood. Notice how small feet are after trimming. Very nice!
same goat trimmed up nicely. Right toe still a little too long.
View of trimmed toe & untrimmed toe - Hind right
right front long but not as bad as other side.
Right - far foot is the left front that is trimmed - closest foot is not trimmed. Trimmed foot will need to be touched up again in a week or two since it is still too long.
right hind food very long toe and way overgrown heel.
new goat - 6months old never been trimmed bad shape Sides of hoof wall very over grown and folded on top of sole and heel over grown

First step clean out then trim with hand trimmers THEN I used a small dremel tool, just started using it summer 2010 and Sir's white feet have never looked so good!
